Sustainable tourism in the Burren, Co Clare. The Burren Painting Centre is a member of the Burren Ecotourism Network. B.E.N. The Burren Painting Centre is based in Lisdoonvarna, Co Clare and provides tutored painting courses outdoors on location.

The accommodation is provided by O’Neills Town Home, a Failte Ireland approved B&B. The art studio and guests car park are situated at the rear of the refurbished, century old establishment. Chris and John O’Neill continue the tradition of hospitality, as the generations before them.

Both O’Neills B&B and the Painting Centre endeavour to carry out their business in a responsible, eco-friendly way, encouraging their guests to enjoy the natural beauty of the Burren, without impacting on the landscape.

An environmental policy of sustainable tourism is in place and guests are asked to minimise their carbon footprint and to conserve the fragile habitats. We recommend the code of ‘Leave No Trace’.

The Burren is an amazing area with limestone rockscapes and a unique flora. There is also an interesting fauna dependant on the plant species. The future of these habitats depends on the local farming communities continuing to cherish and work the land as their forebears.

The region has a rich heritage of archaeological and historical monuments, many of which may be accessed by the public.

Striking geological formations may be seen at the famous Cliffs of Moher, Mullaghmore mountain, the Carran turlough,  Aillwee and Doolin Caves.
